Helpful Tips:
When visiting the South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal and exploring its stunning beaches, there are a few things to remember to pack in or prepare for! So we have consolidated a list of helpful tips for you!
1. Sunscreen & Similar:
Sunscreen: It is a must for our south coast beaches and markets.
Insect Repellent: The South Coast has a lot of mosquitos so make sure you are prepared! Don’t let a few bugs ruin the lovely holiday!
2. Clothes & Accessories:
Sunglasses: The sun is shining quite often on our little paradise, so adequate eyewear is necessary and so are hats!
Swimwear: You simply cannot come to the South Coast and explore all of our beaches without taking a dip in one of our 5 Blue Flag Beaches. Many of our stunning beaches have restaurants close to them within walking distance and clean and easy to use bathrooms & showers. So, make sure you have a change of clothes with you when you want to go dining at C-Bali at St. Mikes Beach, Pavillion at Uvongo Beach or perhaps The Waffle House or Blue Lagoon in Ramsgate, to name only a few!
Raincoat & Umbrella: Although our little paradise has a lot of sunshine, the south coast of KZN does have its odd days, with weather that can sometimes be a bit unpredictable, it is always a great idea to have your raincoats and umbrellas packed in the car just incase, while you enjoy your exploration.
Walking & Closed Shoes, Might as well bring Sandals, too!
It’s best to have both, especially when exploring our stunning rock pools, tidal pools or even going on the Uvongo Park Run. You never want to miss a moment of pure bliss because of sore feet! So pack well to make your experience more enjoyable with a comfortable bear of walking shoes or sandals for the many beach days.
3. Electronics & Other:
Phones & Cameras: First and foremost, you cannot go wrong with taking your camera with or at least having your phones cleared up and ready to soak in all of the stunning photos & videos you’ll be saving for those beautiful memories and folks back home!
Chargers & Power Banks: You will also need to bring along your chargers and power banks, because trust us, you’ll be snapping so many photos and capturing videoes like its going out of fashion, that’s just how much fun you will be having and the next thing you know you’re out of battery power. Be prepared and pack those batteries in!
License: Make sure you have your license ready for action, sometimes you go to places like the Sweetdale Night Market and similar venues where you need to present it to gain entry, it is never fun looking and searching for it when all you want to do is enjoy yourself. So be prepared and have it in an easy place to reach & access. This can be such an important reminder to ensure the day is not spoiled.
4. Binoculars & Sunglasses:
Let’s be real here, while driving on our beautiful beach roads, you will likely run into a few dolphins or whales out at sea, if it is the right time of year you’ll be lucky enough to witness the beautiful wildlife that the south coast of kzn has to offer. So don’t miss an amazing opportunity to bring a pair of binoculars with and your sunglasses for when you are walking or running on the Uvongo Park Run, stopping at the Ramsgate Rambles or just driving along Lilliecrona, Manaba, you are going to want to block out that bright sun to properly enjoy the experience without blinding yourself.
5. Regular Medication:
Bring some basic medicine with you, in case you get the sniffles or a sourthroat, pack in some flu meds, med lemons, multivitamins and cough syrup. Letting nothing stop your holiday and making the most of it. Many people who come on holiday usually catch a cold or flu here and there due to the change in the weather. So take a bit on the drive down and when you get here, have it on standby just in case.
